Welcome to the Transparency Platform for Pakistan

What is RISQ-Online

The Climate transparency for Pakistan is a working tool for national stakeholders on climate change. It accompanies the work on GHG inventories and help the tracking of actions and supports.

It contains two large separate modules, the first one is dedicated to GHG inventories, the second to actions (Policies and Measures) and supports.

  • The term "inventory" is used for the module named "Inventories"., it is an object containing all the data associated with a GHG inventory. The platform can contain many inventories.
  • The term "edition" is used for the module named "Actions and Supports". It is an object containing all information on actions and supports. The platform can contain many editions.

Note: the adaptation module has been designed for the Food&Agriculte sector as a first step and is still under experimentation; it is expected to be further developed, through a “learning by doing” approach, in alignment with other national initiatives (notably the development of the National Adaptation Plan and the revision of the National Climate Change Policy)

"Inventories" and "editions" are independent. The roles associated with the two modules are also distinct.

AGRI_I23_Number of public awareness campaigns on climate-resilient practices (adaptation)

Definition:

Awareness campaigns can address groups of  people in a region affected by a particular  climate threat, groups of stakeholders, the  general public, etc. Such campaigns are  mostly considered as effective if several  ways of communication are served:  dissemination of printed materials;  organisation of public meetings and training; professional consultation; communication  and information through social and massmedia; using informal networks for information dissemination.

Methodology:

AGRI_I21_Number of farmers accessing agro-climatic information

Methodology:

Number of farmers using information networks.

Value:

In Punjab, although the Agriculture Department has a large force of extension service personnel, extension services are still weak, with only 27% of farming households surveyed reporting visits from extension agents (IFPRI, 2016; ACIAR, 2019) (Climate-smart agriculture investment plan)

Comments:

Data available (extension services): farmers trained (village level), farmers coming to offices, users of hot line and social networks / whatsapp groups (stats).

AGRI_I20_% of training sessions for extension services staff (provincial level) that focus on climate resilient practices

Definition:

Training sessions are provided by research organizations (provincial level) on all major crops, including a number of experts’ meetings organized every year (and results are published). Training plans are defined each year.

Methodology:

For a given year (annual training plan), training sessions are conucted: check if the content of sessions focuses on climate-resilient practices and assess the % of climate-smart sessions accordingly.
