Methodology:

Farmers covered by agricultural insurance (Punjab Crop Insurance Punjab Program) - smallholders subistence farmers (all the farmers were small subsistence farmers having the landholding range of less than 25 acres or 10.11 hectares. All such farmers comprise of 90% of the total landholding in the Punjab).

Definition:

Awareness campaigns can address groups of  people in a region affected by a particular  climate threat, groups of stakeholders, the  general public, etc. Such campaigns are  mostly considered as effective if several  ways of communication are served:  dissemination of printed materials;  organisation of public meetings and training; professional consultation; communication  and information through social and massmedia; using informal networks for information dissemination.

In Punjab, although the Agriculture Department has a large force of extension service personnel, extension services are still weak, with only 27% of farming households surveyed reporting visits from extension agents (IFPRI, 2016; ACIAR, 2019) (Climate-smart agriculture investment plan)

Definition:

Training sessions are provided by research organizations (provincial level) on all major crops, including a number of experts’ meetings organized every year (and results are published). Training plans are defined each year.

Methodology:

For a given year (annual training plan), training sessions are conucted: check if the content of sessions focuses on climate-resilient practices and assess the % of climate-smart sessions accordingly.
